Home and Hospital Birth
By: Blair Rusin (Father and Local Artist)
It deeply matters how a baby is born, how a woman is treated during this most vulnerable and most courageous time, how a family begins. My practice holds space for the weaving of modern science, deep love, and a reverence for this ancient passage.
Births are attended in the home. The Midwifery Model of Care guides our service. Physician consultation is obtained when needed.
Births are attended within the Kaleida system, specifically at Women & Children’s Hospital.
In our practice, regardless of setting, a family-centered childbirth experience is provided. With a Licensed Midwife as your care provider in the hospital, you can walk in labor, move around, eat and drink, push in any position, and have your baby with you after birth. Many of our hospital births utilize water therapy during labor. Should any complications arise, consulting physicians are available and your care will be co-managed with the obstetrician.
Please contact your insurance company to inquire whether this service with our practice will be covered.
